I honestly should take my daughter to basketball games more often. It allows me to watch a game while taking perspective that the result of the game isn't nearly as important as hanging out with my daughter and having fun.
We went up to Lincoln, Nebraska to watch Mizzou take on the Huskers. While the ending was less than desirable, we had a great time. Kali does have one problem when she's attending a road game. Her problem is that she fails to understand that when the crowd is cheering loudly on the road, that's bad for the Tigers. She thinks it's great and so she ends up rooting for the other team just because she wants to cheer with everyone else in the arena. A small problem that we'll have to work on.
We were extremely fortunate to find out that we were attending 'Mascot Day' at the Nebraska game. Kali 1.11 quickly figured it all out and was really excited about it. Her favorites were a dragon and a frog (which obviously means she's watching far too many fairy tale movies). She loved it when the mascots came out and danced around. She was dancing right along with them.
There were also a large group of female Mizzou fans in the same area where our seats were located. They were college age girls who thought Kali was so cute in her Mizzou cheerleader outfit. Kali quickly took to the girls. She'd intensely watch everything they were doing. The girls were also showing her the numbers on the benches and were counting with Kali.
On the way home and for the rest of the night at home, it was the same conversation over and over......
Kali: Dragon!
Me: You saw a dragon today?
Kali: Frog!
Me: You saw a frog too?
Kali: A bear!
Me: And a bear?
Kali: Oh, boy!
Me: Oh, boy is right. That was fun.
Kali: Was fun!
Yep, it was fun.
