BUSY!!!!!!!

Life has been wacky of late. Just non-stop action. I've been working quite a bit on a proposal for the city regarding a renovation that Kali 2.5's Papa is doing. I got a surprisingly good response to my written proposal, so that's always a good thing when you're worried about the government nitpicking your proposal.

Mrs. Lime has been working non-stop this week. She's double-dipping by working two jobs for a few weeks. It's been tiring for her, but she's learning a lot and getting in some good networking with other doctors. Always good to have available options.

It also appears that the current lead in my group at work may be removed from his position. I won't discuss much, but it will certainly bring a lot of change to our group in the meanwhile.

Hopefully the weekend will be quiet. I need something to slow down.

Very descriptive.......

Sometimes a daddy does not describe a situation accurately enough for the average 2 year old. Last night was one of those cases. I was sitting on the toilet when Kali 2.5 opened the door and came into the bathroom, which isn't an unusual occurance in our home.

Me: Hello!

Kali: Daddy!

Me: Daddy's sitting on the potty.

Kali: No, you not pottying. You have a BIG POOPIE! You drop a BIG deuce!

I laughed and Mrs. Lime later mentioned she heard the whole conversation from another room. When a 2 year old talks about bodily functions, you can hear it for miles.

Yep, she's tired........

Kali 2.5 had a big day yesterday with her babysitter, Jessica. Jessica and her boyfriend took Kali for a day at the zoo. They spent most of the day checking out all the animals. Jessica and her boyfriend were repeatedly praised with comments about how beautiful their child was (I take full credit for that).

Kali was wired when she got home and wanted to play with me and crawl all over me. We did go next door for a quick meeting I had to attend. Kali kept herself busy by watching cartoons on a 100 inch HD projection TV. Cartoons never looked so good. After that, Kali and I went home to eat dinner and play around the house.

I knew Kali was in trouble around 7:00 PM. She started laying around next to me watching cartoons. She usually is playing while watching cartoons and rarely lays down next to me in a calm manner. Normally, she goes to bed between 8:30 PM and 9:00 PM. But I looked over next to me at 7:45 and saw a modern-day impression of Sleeping Beauty. She was OUT. I nudged her and asked her if she was tired. She nodded yes and I took her up to bed. She slept like a rock. We need to send her to the zoo with Jessica more often.

WAY too much information........

A lady at work had the following to say to her co-workers this morning about her 11 year old daughter, which was easily overheard by yours truly.....

My daughter has the darkest eyebrows. They get plucked and they just keep coming back. They are SO ugly! They honestly look like permanent dirt marks on her forehead. So I took her to get them waxed. God help the guy who has to pay for her constant waxing.

So I'm sitting in the chair next to my daughter and I find out I'm a gorilla! The lady after she waxes me starts shaving my lip, my forehead, my sideburns......it doesn't end. Not only that, but now I'm broke out in zits from all this shaving.

1. The comments about her daughter leave little to the imagination as to why so many young girls today have a poor self-image.

2. I REALLY didn't need to hear a female co-worker exclaim that she was gorilla-like when it comes to body hair.

Phone calls go out..........

Kali 2.5 decided to call some people last night. She started with Papa......

Kali: Hello Papa! How are you? I'm doing great. You doing good too? Oh, we're just sitting here watching TV. I've got another call now. I let you go. Bye-bye!

She sent out a similar call to Grandma and Grandpa. For those that have ever heard a phone conversation with Mrs. Lime, Kali is mimicking many of the things that Mrs. Lime says on the phone ALL the time. Pretty funny impression if you ask me.

I'm flying!!!!!!

Kali 2.5 wanted to demonstrate that she could fly. I told her I'd take pictures of her to show everyone that she can fly. So, here is the pictorial proof.......

Swimming lessons..........

Kali 2.5 went to swimming lessons yesterday with Mrs. Lime. Due to some work obligations, I missed out on the first lesson. However, I received a report back that Kali loves her new swimming teacher. She was able to put her chin in the water and blow some bubbles without any issues.

I'm likely going to be the one to take her to lessons next week. I'm guessing it will consist of tossing Kali in the pool and waiting to see how well she floats.

Kali 2.5: The Radiologist

Kali 2.5 has gone a couple of times to see Mrs. Lime's ultrasound. She got to look at the monitor and see the baby in the ultrasound visuals. She was pretty excited to see the new baby.

Tonight, as she always does, she went into Mrs. Lime's office to give her a good night kiss. Mrs. Lime was on the phone, so Kali stood and waited patiently while Mrs. Lime finished talking. While Mrs. Lime was on the phone waiting, Kali smiled and pointed at the computer monitor.

"Baby!", she said.

Sure enough. Mrs. Lime was reading an ultrasound and Kali knew exactly what it was without any hint from Mrs. Lime or I. Hopefully we can get her reading some CAT scans as well and get her to start earning her keep. She is already two years old after all.

Whole lot of nothing............

Not sure what the deal is, but I've had a run of several days where I felt like I was doing a lot of things while doing nothing at all. I think that's part of the deal with having a kid. You do a whole lot of little things that don't accomplish much, but they have to be done to make sure life proceeds as it should.

Went to Oceans of Fun (local waterpark) with Kali 2.5 and her cousin Gwen 2.1. They have a huge area for kids where they have lots of slides specifically for the kids. I got reprimanded for going down a slide with Kali. Uncle Mark also got called out by the slide police. We'll know next time. Didn't get to do any of the regular rides. Was too busy taking Kali up and down the slides in the kids area.

Her independence grows.............

Took Kali 2.4 to Worlds of Fun day before yesterday along with Grandpa. We went through and did the usual rides on our way around the part. We got back to the kiddie rides and I took her on the kiddie rollercoaster. She thought it was fantastic. We rode it a second time because there wasn't a line.

Then a funny thing happened. All of the kiddie rides previously were a 'no' from Kali because she refused to ride a ride without Mommy or Daddy. But today was different. Out of nowhere, she pointed to one of the kiddie rides and said she wanted to ride it. I told her that I wasn't able to ride it with her and asked if she wanted to ride by herself. She said 'mmmmm-hmmmm'. Jumped right on the ride and loved it. She was excited as she exited the ride and kept saying 'I ride by myself!'. So we went to another kiddie ride.......and another.......and another. 45 minutes later, she had gone on just about every ride in the kiddie section. She loved it.

Yet another step to becoming a 'big girl'.

It's a girl (in another 4-5 months)!!!!!

Well, we're 90-95% sure that we're going to be adding a new baby girl to our household this fall. We went to the doctor's office yesterday and found out. The baby wasn't cooperating very well. It was curled up tight, which didn't allow for a great view to determine the sex of the baby, but the lady doing the ultrasound was pretty sure that it was a girl from what she could see.

I'm fully aware that the extra 'parts' may be hidden from view, so I'll reserve my emotions somewhat until the baby actually comes out, but I think we're likely in a good position to declare it. We may keep a boy name handy just in case. Never know what extra surprises the bundle of joy may have in store.

Hmmmm, where'd I go?

Yeah, I haven't posted in a few days. Not sure where I went.

Thursday night, I went bowling with a few friends. I managed to bowl extremely well, despite my total lack of bowling over the past couple of months. My night ended with my best score ever. I bowled a 196, which included strikes in the first 4 frames. Pretty fun to see that kind of thing on your scorecard, though the last two were not good throws where I got lucky. Still, it was a good time.

I watched 'The Dark Knight' movie over the weekend. I really enjoyed it. Lots of action mixed in with a great plot. It's a shame Heath Ledger decided to overdose on drugs. I would have loved to see more of that Joker character and it's pretty obvious from the ending that they would have likely brought him back for more.

We went to a 4th of July cookout (on July 3rd). Kali 2.4 played dress-up with a bunch of other girls for most of the evening. She had nail polish and make-up put on her in addition to going through 2-3 dresses over the course of the evening. She did great during the fireworks. She wasn't scared in the least.

We took it easy on July 4th. Had some dinner at the house and watched the fireworks from our balcony that night. It's amazing how many fireworks you can see from our balcony. It cost somebody a lot of money to put on that show for us. Thanks for paying for it. We appreciate it.

Wednesday, July 01, 2009

Oh, thanks!

Kali 2.4 has a new overused phrase. If you're pointing something out or asking her to do something, she'll respond "Oh, thanks!". It's got to the point where I feel I have to vary my responses because she says it so often. If I don't vary them, I fear she may start repeating the responses over and over again as well. For example:

-Not a problem
-My pleasure
-It's a honor
-Absolutely
-You're welcome
-Sure

I use those responses on most occasions, though I'm sure I'll think up more as I go along.

I suppose there's far worse things she could be saying, so I shouldn't complain.
