I interviewed today for the management position in my group. No real surprises from a question perspective, though I thought I could have done better. There were a couple of times where I couldn't come up with what I felt was a good answer right away. Just kind of sat there and thought. Ah, well. Sometimes that happens.
I don't think the interview will ultimately affect my chances at getting or not getting the position. I think my work over the past year should speak volumes. An upper manager in the group we work for told my manager that she expected him to make sure I play a major role in the group moving forward. So regardless of whether I land the lead position, upper management thinks well of me and that's all I can do.
